![]() prenderà il posto della mitica monocilindrica 690 Rally che ha dominato la scena dei rally internazionali negli ultimi anni. La ASO (organizzatrice della Dakar) ha infatti imposto la cilindrata di 450 centimetri cubi ai piloti professionisti, in modo da coinvolgere il più possibile le altre Case motociclistiche (Aprilia, BMW, Beta, Sherco oltre alle Case giapponesi). La KTM ha quindi deciso di sviluppare un motore ad hoc di 450 cc che troverà spazio all'interno di una struttura tubolare a traliccio.
